Reiki is shared at 7:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of every month at UFH in a classroom setting and is supported by a suggested love offering of $10.00 or more, if desired. Reiki practitioners at any level and anyone who would like to learn more about Reiki and/or receive Reiki are most welcome.
WHAT IS REIKI?
· Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.
· It is administered by “laying on hands”, and these techniques have been practiced for thousands of years.
· The word “Rei” means universal, or more accurately, it means higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness. This is the wisdom that comes from God or the Higher Self and is the God-Consciousness, which is all-knowing. This wisdom understands each person completely, knows the cause of all problems and difficulties and knows how to heal them.
· The word “Ki” means life energy. It is also known as the vital life force or the universal life force. This is the non-physical energy that animates all living things. If your life energy is low, or if there is a restriction in its flow, you are more vulnerable to illness. When it is high and flowing freely, you are less likely to get sick.
· It is the God-Consciousness called Rei that guides the life energy called Ki in the practice we call Reiki. Therefore, Reiki can be defined as spiritually guided life energy.
REIKI PRACTITIONERS
· Reiki is taught by a Master teacher, who then attunes the student to the Reiki energies.
· There are four different Reiki levels: Reiki 1, Reiki 2, Reiki Master Practitioner and Reiki Master/Teacher.
· The Reiki practitioners at Unity of Farmington Hills are all part of the Usui Reiki Tradition.
